KEY ISSUE TOOL

T.J. Bowen suggested a DOPN tool or database that links the key issues of each of the seven DoPN Offices to other resources:
a) to the key issues addressed by current Peace & Justice Organizations.   The Peace Alliance Foundation is constructing a database or Peace Registry that will provide the basis of this model.
b) to the key issues of Congressional Committees and/or
c) to the key issues of each member of Congress (or the key issues identified in platforms of the two major party platforms)

Using Mr. Bowen's suggestions, the "Design Requirements" for such a "tool" were first documented to guide the development process. more....

A preliminary version of this Peace Issue Resource Locator (PIRL) can be found at

http://www.findapeacemaker.org/Finding/search_by_KeyIssuesSimple.cfm

Two of the major components requested are functioning

     1)  Key issue traceability to the DOPN organization (Legislation)
     2) Key issue association with Peace & Justice Organizations

Other components have not been completed

     1)  Key issue association with members of Congress and Congressional Committees

Component A:   DOPN Select a Key Issue from the list, then select Resource =  “DOPN”    All the key issues listed came from the Bill.    If you select “All Peacemaking Issues”  you will see all the data loaded in so far (Thru paragraph 105 of the Bill)

Component B:  Peace Organizations
If you select Resource = Organizations, “ then only a few key issues will work because the “organization” data has not been updated to include the DOPN Key issue association..   You will get a response if you select  “All Peacemaking Issues” or  “child abuse.”

Notice you can define the “Scope” of your search ranging from “global” down to a “Colorado Congressional District.”   Try CD1 and “child abuse” and “Organization”  You should find something.    Or if you select “All” and “”Colorado” you should get around 98 organizations

Component C: Congress and Committees
The table for the members of congress and committees has not yet been developed
